I’ve propagated some but there’s heaps. Can I cut the whole stem off at the plant without hurting the mother plant.

My parents have one at their house that is at least 30 years old and greets everyone on their way inside. It has so many pups since it’s strong with age and well cared for.

I recently had a spider plant given to me. It never had pups. It grew pale and then started failing. Sure enough, the roots overtook the small pot! It was 90% tuber roots and 10% soil…surely not enough to feed it the nutrients it needed. I cleaned it up, divided it into 2 pots, and now it is thriving and bright green again. Hoping for some pups!
